Brunch spread from a couple weekends ago at Cafe Ghia. Bottom right is their fabulous vegan scramble. It is my fav brunch, fer sure.
Pasta two ways and two days.
Day 1: with roasted tomatoes, nooch and olive oil.
Day 2: with pan-fried garlic, zucchini, kale and olive oil.
Terakawa Ramen in Gramercy serves vegetarian ramen in a SOYMILK BROTH. SUCK IT.
It’s like salad in a bowl of ramen.
Three Sapporos deep it is like heaven.
vegan spinach florentine ravioli from whole foods. this stuff rules.
Just discovered this ravioli and ate it today. So delicious. I’m in heaven.
BREAKFAST OF CHAMPIONS?
Red curry grilled tofu banh mi with kimchi, arugula and sriracha mayo on a grilled baguette from The Cinnamon Snail.
Delicious.
8$ in my happy vegan belly.
Typical quick dinner: 1/2c cooked quinoa, a handful of sliced tomatoes and raw dinosaur kale and a block of Trader Joe’s savory baked tofu topped with Oh She Glows’ Red Lentil Hummus - which I ended up not using enough lentils in (just cooked what I had left which didn’t amount to much and pulsed with a clove of garlic, some salt and a scoop of tahini sauce). Easy yum.
GUYS, the only reason I would ever move upstate for real is Wegman’s. Wegman’s is like the holy grail of grocery. Everything is so cheap. I got a thing of Justin’s Maple Almond nut butter for 6.99$ there, which is totally unheard of for NYC.
And they have a great selection of veggie rolls! In the back we have Thai Sweet Potato and in the front we have Garden Vegetable. On the rare occasions we are together (boo living 4.5 hours away from my BFFL) Joelle and I usually get separate things and swap half when we eat together, which gives us good opportunity to taste both things we want without eating too much!
Sharing is caring. Go to Wegman’s. Have sushi.
Stronghearts volume 1: The Pizza Edition
We celebrated vegan pizza day a day early with two amazing pizzas from Stronghearts. Stronghearts is really weird because they only serve pizza on Fridays between 6PM and 2AM, and you have to call way ahead to order (I think we called at like 4PM to get our pizza at 7:45PM), but it’s totally worth it!
Pictured above are our boxes (I got such a kick out of seeing my name on them), a hot chicken wing pizza (hot sauce based pizza with vegan blue cheese and soy chicken strips marinated in hot sauce on top) and TLT pizza (pesto based pizza with onions, tomatoes, sauteed spinach and marinated tofu).
The hot chicken wing pizza was amazingly spicy and we ate half the chicken strips before getting home they were so good, and the TLT’s pesto base was amazing. I did wish the tofu on the TLT was more like tofu ricotta, but I loved all the veggies (and munched all the little pieces of tofu off the pizza anyway)!
These were exceptionally delicious and totally worth the trip to Syracuse if you can get up there. Yum.
Stronghearts is located at 719 E Genesee Street, Syracuse, NY.
Last weekend was spent visiting my very best friend upstate, and it was full of delicious vegan food and posts to come! Here’s a sampling of what we had at her place: dilly snap peas, made a giant salad from her CSA share [how gorgeous are those veggies?], and Pimm’s with cucumber and strawberries and ginger. Goodness!
I went to the wonderful Vegan Shop-Up today (more on that later, as I had a barrage of yummy things) and picked up some of this Nacho Teese, which I’ve only seen photos of in the past.
OMG, you guys, it’s amazing! Not going to lie, this shit costs an arm and a leg normally but I got two Teeses for $5 at the shop-up (also have a creamy cheddar, am planning creamy mac and cheeze and broccoli) which was an amazing deal and I’m not ashamed to say my friends and I consumed the whole thing with sweet potato tortilla chips watching the season finale of Mad Men. It only has 35 calories per serving. So I figure even eating five servings of it isn’t too awful.
Right?
Dim sum tomorrow. yum.
