Oriole 9

My mom and I took a trip to Woodstock recently and decided to have brunch at the wonderful Oriole 9. The place was really cool in general - Candy Chang’s “Before I die” was installed there and the tables were mismatched. Service was a bit spotty, but the food was worth it and they had tasty soy cappuccinos as well.

I got the above tofu hash with spinach, mushrooms and roasted red peppers served with garlic toast and salad. Yum.

Alto Cinco

Brunch is the greatest and best meal of the day, and this rings true at Syracuse’s Alto Cinco for sure. Pictured above is a vegan Tofu Scrambler - scrambled curry tofu with vegan sausage, hash browns, toast and red sauce. All this food for 6.50$! Unheard of. The sausage wasn’t too good, but the tofu was nice - had a nice Indian twist to it - and the hash browns were very tasty too, even though a tad burnt. Very satisfying meal, and a super-cute place indeed. Service was a bit slow and spazzy (had to ask for our orange juice a couple times), but good overall!

Alto Cinco is located at 526 Westcott St, in Syracuse, NY.

Weekends are for making tofu scramble and dumping Valentina on top. I use Isa Chandra’s recipe from Vegan with a Vengeance and it’s really quite perfect.
